Topaz Rags – The Crown Center 7″
NNF198
West Coast ghost squad Topaz Rags re-emerge from the dry hills with a new EP, their first since Capricorn Born Again. Recorded in the haze of winter in a room lit by one blue bulb, The Crown Center is purist nightprowler: quaking bass, grimy keys, and threadbare drums, with witch choirs floating out of the smog and into sleeping homes with the power lines cut.
The flip (“You Go On”) slips deeper into the psych / psycho psyche, a bleached rhythm grinding into darkness while voices and electric piano arc across the mix raining ash. A grimmer twist on the Topaz dimension, a dreamer’s dream of crime to come.
33 RPM 7 inches of variously colored vinyl in hand-silkscreened cardstock sleeves.
