Grey clouds stay grey. West Coast shadow-jazz triad Topaz Rags follow a pair of EPs with their debut long player, Capricorn Born Again, an eight-song comedown recorded and mixed during the spring and fall of 2009 via a convoluted 4-track/boombox assemblage process. There’s creaks and hisses, choked smoke in small rooms, players at the end of their ropes, faded ragas in decrepit electric piano bars, low light situations and low-lit moods.
