When Adelaide enigma Rites Wild aka Stacey Wilson first came to L.A. her show got busted by cops before she even got to play. Even so, her self-released EPs of shadow pop dirge had us on board for a full-length. Ways Of Being collects the blackest pearls from three limited cassingles (released via her defunct Faux Friends label) plus a handful of previously unreleased cuts for an ideal spelunk into RW’s memory-haunted waters. Layering dusty church organ drum-box rhythms with grey-crystal keyboard loops, spectral grit, and monotonal vox, WOB rides the ridge between ritualistic raga and subterranean songcraft in a mysterious, mesmerizing fashion, and signals a distinct new voice in the garbled membrane of global hypno-music. Black vinyl LPs in jackets designed by S. Wilson. Mastered and cut by Helmut Erler at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin.
