January 8th

as is evident: this Friday the 13th (!!) is an exceptional and fortuitous paths-crossing of a bunch of amazing 100% SILK artists – Ital has a layover on his way down to Australia, Magic Touch and Bobby Browser are comin down from SF for the weekend (expect M Touch guest star Josh Anzano to redux his shred session from this summer's Freak City blowout), plus sets by LA's own SFV Acid and Pharaohs, PLUS a rare DJ set by forthcoming SILK-ists Body Double. Once in a blue moon-style, so come out to the Little Temple if you live in a nearby zip code and like to sweat.

meanwhile, thousands of miles away:

there is an excellent dual bill in France of Ensemble Economique (currently on tour in europe) and High Wolf, plus a DJ set by Joseph Ghosn. should be a nite of note!

January 2nd

well here it is, after a lot of hype & expectation: 2012. we'll see how December 12th goes down, finally. in the meantime, might as well keep cruising. and here's the first 2 NNF sound-pods slated to drop this month:

The vinyl debut by Cruise Family from Vienna, "We're In Heaven" (click here to watch an excerpt video), is a swirling amnesiac freefall through ghostly club beats and afterlife rave textures. As a new year's present, he's crafted a rare archival mixtape of his favorite 303 Cologne/Detroit 1992-1995 acid/trance cuts; click on the image to download. In his words: "this is sick hallucinating stuff."



the other new 12" is Cuticle's follow-up to the "Confectioner's Beats" EP on 100% SILK. this one is the first purely solo Cuticle venture, after a series of longform collab approaches. "Mother Rhythm Earth Memory" is a heavily unique pan-synthetic crosspollination collection, a definite advance in dynamics and digital overrides. massive thanks to the gracious team of the Les Urbaines fest in Lausanne for inviting LA Vampires and Maria Minerva (above) to perform this past weekend, was a rowdy and joyous arts melting pot we were honored to participate in. thanks to everyone that danced till dawn and hung deep.

back from down under! had an exceptional time: great shows, wonderful people, sick bands, poisonous rainforests (see above), lots of airports, etc. infinite thanks to Lawrence from Room 40 and everyone who booked, promoted, played, fed, hung, or any other positive creative way crossed paths with us. we already wanna go back.

have already hit the ground running, label-wise, as there's 2 new NNF LPs (KWJAZ & ROBEDOOR) plus a grip of new non-NNF action (2 SILKs, FACE PLANT split 12", RANGERS/KWJAZ split cs, UMBERTO tape, etc). check it out!! on the usual pages.

also, internet-readers may already know, but PEAKING LIGHTS' glorious "936" album has been bought by Domino subdivision 'Weird World' so only north american music fans can purchase the original NNF edition. fans outside CAN/USA/MEX must buy it from them from here on out. there will, however, be a radly skewed "936: REMIXXED" 12" on 100% SILK in the coming months featuring 4 electronic rescramblings of PL classic trax. keep an eye out.

as you can see, LA VAMPIRES is jetting down to Australia for a 10-day, 6-show trip courtesy of the generous professionalism of Lawrence English & Room 40. if you live in one of the above cities, please come out, it'll be all new songs plus tons of NNF & SILK merch !!

however -- this does mean that NNF HQ will be semi-nonoperational from SEPT 1 to SEPT 10 so any orders placed during that time will be shipped afterwards. and of course emails may not get replied to, so thanks in advance for yr patience. expect a grip of new vinyl and randoms on about SEPT 12 (KWJAZ, RBDR, INNERGAZE, OCTO OCTA, etc).
